Small Business: Maintaining appropriate technology
Businesses, particularly small businesses, face constant pressures to maintain currency with respect to their Information Technology solutions. Hardware, Software, Networks and Security threats all promulgate and change too rapidly for many small business to be able to determine which, if any, of the new solutions are cost effective for their specific needs.
Computer Hardware:
Software bloat renders computers obsolete at an alarming rate. Our own internal rule of thumb is that every upgrade doubles the memory requirements, doubles the CPU speed requirement, and quadruples the hard disk requirements of the previous version.
Software:
The discussion above may indicate our ideas regarding software upgrades: There is a known and expensive side effect of software upgrades and the benefits of many upgrades are elusive. Careful analysis of users' requirements contrasted with knowledge of the true benefits of upgrades can help resolve this issue.
Network Infrastructure:
Maintaining appropriate networking can make a large difference in productivity and reducing office costs. De-wiring the office, specifying appropriate internet connectivity levels, maintaining secure internet, inter-office, and B2B communications all effect the bottom line, both in terms of absolute costs and productivity.
For each of these issues, we assist our customers in assessing and defining their needs and suggesting appropriate solutions, where our goal is to provide a maximally cost effective solution to their needs. When a solution is presented, we are able to assist in the implementation of the solution in terms of hardware purchase, software installation and network upgrades.
